Dear colleagues please note the seminar today
given by T. Schietinger on:

H5PartROOT: utilizing high-energy physics data analysis tools for 
accelerator simulations

Modern particle tracking codes with their parallel processing capabilities
generate data files of the order of 100 Gigabytes. Thus they make very high
demands on file formats and post-processing software. The AMAS group uses
the hierarchical data format hdf5, supplemented by an accelerator-specific
interface called H5Part, for data storage. For the visualization and 
analysis
of the data on the other hand, we created an application based on ROOT,
CERN's object-oriented data analysis framework developed for the 
requirements
of the LHC era. In this palaver, I will give a brief overview of this
application, inventively called H5PartROOT. Providing the user with both a
graphical user interface (data browser) and a shared library, H5PartROOT
passes on the full power of ROOT without presupposing any knowledge of 
ROOT's
many idiosyncrasies.
