Dear Colleagues there is a BD-Palaver on June 5, at 14.00 WBGB 021.

In November 2011 the HIPA-Proton-Beam was measured extensively in the “enlarged Injektionsweg 2”:

INJ2: RIE1&2, MIZ               IW2: MXP, MXZ           RING: RRI2, RRZ

Beam-Current: 0.55mA, 1.1mA, 2.2mA (2.3mA) - Optics: Production

Processing these measurements with OPAL-T, Sumin Wei has determined the  6D-Beam-Matrix.

Problem: Despite the large number of measurements (>70) some of the Beam-Matrix-Elements were badly determined, i. e. many different initial 6D-Beam-Ellipsoidsdescribe the measurements equally well.

Proposed Solution: choose among them the most likely Ellipsoid, d. h. the one with the Maximum Entropie: MENT!

Using the same data as Sumin Wei, I have determined the Beam-Matrix with a MATLAB-Program, combining the demands for Minimum Squared Error χ² und Maximum Entropie S.  The Transfer-Matrices were calculated with TRANSPORT, the Beam’s Space Charge was included.

I will show how I included the MENT-principle into the Beam-Fit, and its effect on the outcome of the Beam-Fit.  Then I will present the Beam-Parameters I obtained for the 4 Beam-Currents, and compare them with Sumin Wei’s Parameters.
