Dear All,
I have checked out and installed the OPAL-1.6 in the weekends and run a parallel plate test.
I think there are some code updating work to do to get multipacting functioning in OPAL-1.6.
Please give me more time.
Best regards
Chuan

Dear All,

I am eager to reproduce the results in 1208.6577 and grateful for the assistance. I might recommend adding the installation of zlib to the “Compile opal on rhel6” page, somewhere before the compilation of opal.

This caused the make command for opal to fail right before finishing. Also, I needed to change permissions of the /usr/local/, /usr/local/lib, and /usr/local/include to 777 and then back to 755 for the make install to complete copying some files around. Otherwise, it seems to be up and running. OPAL is a great help and I look forward to applying it.

Yours,

Cantwell

Hi Cantwell

The multipacting mode is only available in OPAl 1.6. So after cloning the master,

change to the 1.6 tag with:

% git checkout OPAL-1.6

Chuang Wang in the cc can help you to get the parallel plate test running. This is

First thing you should do, the results are documented in 1208.6577 . We are about

to finalise this paper.

For running something like: multipacting.in, you would need to have a geometry. Also here Chuan is

The right person to ask.

Cheers Andreas

Dear Cantwell,

I haven't ever used the multipacting feature of opal and I don't know in what state the relevant code is. Unfortunately I also don't have the time to look into it in depth: I work for a funding agency and I can't work on opal during office hours.

I hope Andreas and Achim can help you with your problem.

Best,

Christof

Dear Christof,

My name is Cantwell Carson and I am hoping you can help me.

We are making multipaction suppression coatings and I want to create the multipaction susceptibility zone maps for V vs GHz.mm. I would like to use OPAL but am having trouble compiling OPAL and running the multipacting.in demo. I have installed OPAL 1.6, but this is incompatible with the 1.9 code on master branch. I have been using a virtualbox and installing opal on SL7 and will try installing the opal nightly on a clean install. This would be the latest in several tries to get the multipacting.in simulation working, and I thought I would ask you for any advice that you might have.

Could you help me get the multipacting.in simulation running on OPAL 1.9 on a clean installation of SL7?

Thanks!

Yours,

Cantwell
