At the moment there are no such plans. I am also not understand the “general field map reader”.
Do you mean a reader based on Fourier coefficients?

Yess that’s correct and described in the Manual: Elements section https://gitlab.psi.ch/OPAL/Manual-2.0/wikis/elements at 1.16.
