Dear all,

another (working) possibility for cases like Bettinas is to use file names that contain an integer such as in ez_normalizedcathodpos_1.txt, ez_normalizedcathodpos_2.txt, ..., ez_normalizedcathodpos_10.txt. You then define a design variable named e.g. fnum. The field maps can then be chose in the template file like this:
FNAME="ez_normalizedcathodpos__fnum_.txt".

For a better understanding I have attached Bettinas example to the e-mail.

Best,
Christof

That's true, the sampler does not accept string input. Since there are only 3 possibilities you could do an if-else in the tmpl-file and
sample an integer.

Yes. But I think it would be a small change.

Matthias

Betreff: [Opal] sampler input

Dear all,

I would like to use the sampler for our gun / diagnostic line.

As the cathode position and field flatness are ambiguous, I need to

vary also the gun fieldfile.

Lower/Upperbounds accept only numbers, not strings.

I cannot skip these parameters, nor enter ‘dummy’ numbers 1 to 3

while reading the 3 filenames from a file.

Using something like 1:“filename“, leads to a ‚1‘ in the input, the string is ignored.

To try different filenames is essential for these studies.

Does anybody know how to run this?

Are changes to the sampler software necessary?

I greatly appreciate your help!

Bettina
