Dear Andreas,

My apologies for late response to your answer. Thank you for letting me know about the transverse deflecting cavity.

I guess my question was not clear. Concerning "3DDynamic" type of field in the OPAL simulation, I noticed that only the real part can be used.
I am wondering if there is a way to use the imaginary part of the field in the OPAL simulation. If there is, could you please let me know?

Thank you very much!
Best regards,
Seongyeol

Hoi Seongyeol unfortunately I do not really understand what you mean.

We currently do not have a “regression test” (as far as I know) of a transverse deflecting cavity.

Dear all,

One more thing: Here, we tried to implement the traveling wave structure with separate components with 3Ddynamic type.
For the real part, we set the field to be [Re(E), Im(H)] and imaginary part to be [Im(E), Re(H)] using standing wave RFCavity element.

And, for the TDC (traveling wave cavity) element, we superimposed real and imaginary parts by setting the element like below:
================================================================
TDC_Re:   RFCavity, L = Ltdc, VOLT = 1, ORIGIN = {0.0, 0.0, 0.05},
       ORIENTATION = {0.0, 0.0, 0.0}, TYPE = "STANDING",
       FMAPFN = "DeflectorRe.T7", FREQ = 11700.0, LAG = tdcPhase;

TDC_Im:   RFCavity, L = Ltdc, VOLT = 1, ORIGIN = {0.0, 0.0, 0.05},
       ORIENTATION = {0.0, 0.0, 0.0}, TYPE = "STANDING",
       FMAPFN = "DeflectorIm.T7", FREQ = 11700.0, LAG = tdcPhase-Pi/2; // +pi/2 or -pi/2 according to fieldmap data

TDC: Line = (TDC_Re, TDC_Im);
=================================================================

In addition to the setting we tried, I would like to get more confidence through the benchmarking data of traveling wave TDC example you provide.
I am looking forward to your message!

Best regards,
Seongyeol

제목: Question regarding traveling wave RF transverse deflecting cavity

Dear all,

Hello, this is Seongyeol Kim, a postdoc with Argonne Wakefield Accelerator Facility in Argonne National Laboratory.
Currently, I am trying to perform formatting and implementing the traveling wave transverse deflecting cavity to the OPAL simulation.

I found that 3Ddynamic fieldtype for the OPAL simulation only includes real part of the fieldmap,
I think adding the imaginary part for implementing traveling wave structure is necessary, but I am not sure how to add it.
I was wondering if you could provide an example of the traveling wave transverse deflecting cavity. For me it will be a nice example and benchmarking data for our TDC in the OPAL simulation.

I am looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Seongyeol
