Dear OPAL Users,

It has been an exceptionally busy year for us. We embarked on an exciting
journey with the development of OPAL-X, a performance portable and
exascale-ready version of OPAL. We are optimistic that the initial version of
OPAL-X, albeit with a limited scope, will be available in the first quarter
of 2024.

Regrettably, we must announce the cancellation of the planned release of OPAL
2023.1, which was scheduled for December. This decision is primarily due to
challenges related to build processes, specifically concerning library and
compiler compatibility issues. However, we are striving to release OPAL
2024.1 in January.

Your support has been invaluable to us throughout this journey. The OPAL
development team extends heartfelt thanks and wishes you a Merry Christmas
and a prosperous New Year.
