Hi John,

We have someone here currently running OPAL on a virtual machine under
Windows. In the past I have also installed OPAL on Linux virtual
machine (using VirtualBox) under Windows for someone else.

I don't know what kind of performance hit you take on a virtual
machine, but it seems to run reasonably well depending on what
resources you make available to the virtual machine software.

Once you get your virtual machine up and running (might as well use
Scientific Linux 6 on VirtualBox or whatever virtual machine software
ANL uses), you can download the binaries and install OPAL from https://
amas.psi.ch/OPAL/wiki/Downloads
