Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the release of OPALX 1.0.0, an open-source accelerator simulation code!

OPALX builds on the work of the OPAL community, carrying forward its approach to parallel,

open-source accelerator simulation while adapting it to today's computing architectures.

OPALX unifies the former OPAL-t, OPAL-cycl, and OPAL-map flavours into one framework for modelling

linacs, rings, FFAs, and cyclotrons.

At the core of OPALX is performance portability, from laptops to supercomputers. Built on IPPL and

Kokkos, a shared code base targets multicore CPUs and NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs, allowing

researchers to use a broad range of computing platforms.

OPALX 1.0.0 includes three-dimensional space charge, collision modelling, pion and muon

tracking with decays, and spin tracking.

To make getting started easier, the project now provides CPU Docker images for x86-64 and ARM64,

together with a container-based development environment. You can try OPALX without installing its

compiler and dependency stack yourself.
